Trek Itinerary of Panpatia Col Trek

Day 1: Dehradun to Joshimath

The journey starts in Dehradun at 7 AM, with participants meeting their expedition leader to begin. On your scenic drive from Dehradun to Joshimath at an altitude of 1,875 meters, you’ll marvel at its majestic Himalayan landscape while building anticipation for what lies ahead of you – an expedition leader will provide a thorough briefing about all that lies ahead and provide support throughout. After a long travel day, you will have ample opportunity for relaxation with a delicious dinner followed by a comfortable overnight stay at the guesthouse before starting trekking the next day!

Day 2: Joshimath to Hanuman Chatti (Drive) & Hanuman Chatti to Khirao (Trek)

Beginning our journey from Joshimath, we will drive for two hours before reaching Hanuman Chatti – an idyllic village set amongst the splendorous Himalayas. As we travel along winding roads, we will come upon a suspension bridge spanning the Alaknanda River that offers stunning views of this majestic river coursing gracefully through a valley. Starting our trek from the confluence of Khirao Ganga and Alaknanda Rivers, we will journey towards Khirao village tucked into its valley along Khirao Ganga. Our trek will lead us to a campsite alongside a river, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the hills and connecting us more intimately with nature. Later in the evening, we will enjoy a delectable dinner under a starlit sky before retiring back into our comfortable tents for the night.

Day 3: Khirao to Shepherd Camp

Over 5 hours and covering 7 kilometres, our trek takes us to Shepherd Camp at an elevation of 3,580 meters (11,745 feet), an alluring destination renowned for its natural charm and breathtaking vistas. As we set sail from Khirao, we gain insight into the lives of local villagers who spend their summer months tending their terraced farms before some relocate to higher pastures, leaving behind a tranquil village atmosphere. Journeying towards Shepherd Camp provides us with an opportunity to appreciate nature and the unfettered wilderness. Starting from the village, our initial ascent takes us along lush grassy slopes before reaching treeline marked by flagged boulders. Progression further unveils the beauty of our landscape. After an exhilarating trek, arriving at our campsite offers us a breathtaking vantage point of snow-capped peaks, shimmering rivers, and lush forests, each boasting its breathtaking beauty.

Day 4: Shepherd Camp to Snout Camp

From Shepherd’s camp, you will travel over 4 km in 3 hours towards the Panpatia glacier snout at an elevation of 3,900m (12,795ft). This stunning journey promises breathtaking vistas along its path. Along the journey, you will experience breathtaking vistas of nature that will leave you spellbound. Just a ten-minute walk from your campsite is Panpatia Glacier’s tranquil and peaceful snout, providing a peaceful retreat where you can contemplate nature’s grandeur and marvel at its beauty. Once there, you’ll enjoy stunning panoramic views of the Himalayan Mountain range, and our Snout camp provides tents so that you can relax and take in nature’s magnificence. When nightfall rolls in, head back into your cozy tent lulled to sleep by the sounds of nearby streams as darkness falls – your peaceful tranquillity is assured by these magical surroundings.

Day 5: Snout Camp to Moraine Camp

Today’s trek covers 4.5 km over five hours from Snout Camp to Moraine Camp at an elevation of 5,070 m (16,635.). This leg provides a gradual ascent, which will help prepare our bodies for the higher elevations we will encounter over the coming days. Initial ascent may seem tedious; however, snow patches break up the monotony and help us move ahead more easily. Along our journey are striking views, including Neelkanth and Parvati peaks on one side and an incredible crevassed glacier on the other. As soon as we reach Moraine Camp, we will set up our tents, enjoy a tasty dinner, and appreciate our beautiful surroundings. Despite any physical challenges encountered throughout our trek, its breathtaking landscapes and closeness with nature make for a rewarding experience.

Day 6: Rest & Acclimatization Day

At the Panpatia Col Trek, your body must adjust to higher altitudes by resting and taking time for acclimatization. As you ascend higher, air becomes thinner, which could create challenges to your trekking experience and cause altitude sickness or other problems. Therefore, taking breaks to rest and allow your body to adjust is advised so you can fully appreciate the stunning landscape around you and allow your body to adjust before continuing with strenuous activities and treks. It also gives your senses a chance to fully enjoy and appreciate its surroundings while giving your senses time for recuperation!

Day 7: Moraine Camp to Parvati Base Camp

Today’s journey spans only 4 km, but its ascent is steep, taking four hours from Moraine Camp on the Panpatia Col Trek to reach Parvati Col’s foot on our Panpatia Col Trek. Along our ascent are breathtaking vistas, drawing us ever closer to the Panpatia snowfield. As we set up camp just below Parvati Col, positioning ourselves strategically for future adventure. After enjoying an evening meal under the starry sky and an invigorating mountain breeze, we will retreat into our tents, sleeping peacefully under their soothing embrace and invigorating mountain air!

Day 8: Parvati Base Camp to Panpatia Snowfield Camp via Parvati Col

Launch yourself on an incredible 4 km, 4-hour trek from Parvati Base Camp to Panpatia Snowfield Camp through the Parvati Col. The trek requires courage and determination as it ascends 5,200 meters (17, a snow and rock gully that requires ropes for safe passage.) As you traverse this perilous terrain, your senses will become amplified, and adventure will fill your blood. The majestic snowscape and towering peaks will leave you humbled by nature’s grandeur and full of admiration for her power and grandeur. Beyond the initial climb, a series of gentle undulations will lead you to reach Parvati Col and Panpatia Snowfield, an expansive expanse of snow surrounded by breathtaking peaks. As you approach the Chaukhamba mountain range, if lucky, you may get a glimpse of Nanda Devi. When you reach its summit, you will feel immense pride at having accomplished one of the Himalayas’ toughest treks. When night falls, make a stopover at Panpatia Snowfield Campsite before retiring for the night with a delicious dinner in hand!

Day 9: Panpatia Snowfield Camp to Sujal Sarovar via Panpatia Col

Today, you’ll traverse the Panpatia snowfield, covering 9 km over seven hours and covering an altitude difference of 3,650 meters (17,257 feet). At 5,260 m (17,257 ft), Panpatia Col stands out at an altitude of 5,260 meters (17,257 ft), while Sujal Sarovar lies at 4,750 metres (15,584 feet). Ascending briefly will bring you to Panpatia Col, where a stunning landscape awaits a short ascent before an exhilarating descent will bring you down into the Sujal Sarovar campsite for restful nights’ sleep.

Day 10: Sujal Sarovar to Kachni

Today’s journey will cover six kilometers in five hours from Sujal Sarovar to Kachni Tal – a picturesque meadow offering beautiful views of Madhmaheshwar Ganga. After departing Sujal Sarovar, we climb toward a small pass before descending steeply through snowy slopes and boulder areas towards Kachni. Nearing Kachni, we are treated to breathtaking views of Madhmaheshwar Ganga, which gives way to ushering in this wonderful adventure! At nightfall, our peaceful campsite will be in the meadow where we enjoy an excellent dinner before retiring to cozy tents for the night. When morning arrives, we wake up to see the Guptkashi temple below us, as well as the distant twinkling lights of Guptkashi twinkle with light. As we set off for an adventure through the breathtaking natural landscapes of India’s Himalayas, each step reminds us of both nature’s incredible resilience and grandeur, and of how remarkable resilience of its mountains.

Day 11: Kachni to Nanu Chatti

Today’s 10km journey will take approximately seven hours, passing through picturesque oak forests and stunning landscapes. A 3-4 hour trek in the morning will lead us to Madhmaheshwar temple – a breathtaking architectural feat which gives us ample time for exploration. After this, we’ll visit a nearby tea shop for lunch, providing us an opportunity to relax and socialize among fellow trekkers while appreciating the serene setting. An afternoon stroll through the forest will be punctuated by soothing birdcall and insect buzz, eventually leading to Nanu Chatti, an idyllic summer homes community. When night falls, we will set up camp and share an unforgettable meal under the stars while engaging in lively dialogue and laughter-filled conversation!

Day 12: Nanu Chatti to Ransi (Trek) & Ransi to Rudraprayag (Drive)

Panpatia Col trek covers 12 kilometers over 7 hours, beginning from Nanu Chatti to Ransi at an altitude of 1,920 meters (6,300 feet). Along the Madhmaheshwar Temple Trek is the final leg of this adventure, which offers picturesque views of the Garhwal Himalayas encircled with unspoilt Himalayan scenery. Finally, upon reaching Ransi, there’s an exciting drive ahead that offers spectacular vistas and unforgettable Himalayan sights.

Day 13: Rudraprayag to Dehradun

As your Panpatia Col Trek comes to an end, it’s time to transition back to regular life and return to its peace and serenity of the Himalayas. Day 14: Reserve Day
