Mardi Himal Trek
The Mardi Himal Trek is an intimate five-day trek beginning near Pokhara, Nepal, and leading to the base of Mardi Himal beneath Mt. Machapuchhre. This trek provides stunning views of Annapurna Conservation Area as you journey through lush hills, oak and rhododendron forests, and valleys encased by snow-covered peaks. A highlight of this trek is panoramic views of the Annapurna Range, Dhaulagiri Peaks, and Mount Machhapuchare. Machapuchhre, Manaslu, and Manaslu can be seen from a high ridge, while passing lakes and waterfalls on your journey towards Mardi Himal Base Camp at 4500 meters. This trek is suitable for novice and experienced trekkers alike and should best take place before monsoon season hits; the best time is March-May prior to and September to December after.
Trek Itinerary of Mardi Himal Trek
Day 1
Arrive at Pokhara
Arrive in Pokhara today and settle into your accommodation. Take the time to explore this bustling city by visiting various coffee shops and pubs before purchasing any additional necessities that may come your way.
Day 2
Pokhara to Kande – 1 hr Drive. Kande to Deurali (2125 M) – 4 hrs
Starting our journey from Pokhara, our trek begins at Kande, our trek head. Once at Kande, we embark on a scenic trek through lush green hills and vibrant rhododendron forests until reaching Deurali mountain pass – marking the boundary between Annapurna south range and Mardi Himal & Mt Machapucchre massifs – through charming villages to eventually reach Deurali mountain pass which provides incredible views of snow-capped peaks far off in the distance before resting up for the night in our cozy lodge surrounded by Himalayan beauty!
Day 3
Deurali (2125 M) to Low Camp (3150 M) – 7 hrs
On today’s journey, we will traverse lush meadows offering stunning vistas of Mt. Machapucchre, Mardi Himal, Dhaulagiri, and the Annapurna range. After passing through a clearing, we will reach the forest camp before proceeding towards the low camp in search of rare Himalayan thar, spotted deer, and vibrant rhododendron blooms along our journey. Lodging will be provided at the lodge tonight.
Day 4
Low Camp (3150 M) to High Camp (3700 M) – 4 hrs
Today, we will trek along the Mardi Himal ridge towards High Camp. Along the way, we will witness breathtaking views of Mardi Himal and Mt Machapucchre and pass through rhododendron bushes as trees become sparse – keep an eye out for “Daphne,” Nepal’s national bird! Finally, we’ll spend our night in lodges at High Camp.
Day 5
High Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp and back to High Camp – 6 to 7 hrs
Today, we aim to start our trek early, making for Mardi Himal Base Camp by sunrise to experience the majestic scenery. Although challenging, the rewards can be immense: incredible vistas of Mardi Himal, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Mt Machapucchre can be seen throughout your trek. Take some time to admire and soak up this breathtaking scenery before continuing onto High Camp, where accommodations for tonight will be in lodges located there.
Day 6
High Camp to Siding – 9 km, 6 hrs. Siding to Pokhara – 3 hrs Drive
Once we arrive at Siding, the path from High Camp to Siding can be very steep. Once in Siding, our journey will continue with a three-hour drive back to Pokhara.
Day 7
Depart from Pokhara

How To Reach Mardi Himal Trek
Kande, near Pokhara in Nepal, is our starting point.
By Air: For flights into Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport. Travel by air (6-7 hours) or by road to Pokhara.
By Road: From Kathmandu, private buses and vehicles are readily available to take visitors directly to Pokhara. Start of Your Trek – From Pokhara, drive to Phedi or Kande to begin the trek.
Best Time to Visit Mardi Himal Trek
Spring: Whilst temperatures and skies may not always be ideal, when blooming rhododendrons bloom fully, the experience is breathtaking! Autumn Season (September to November). Post-monsoon clarity provides excellent mountain visibility. Mild Winter (December to January): Winter trekkers and snow treks may become scarcer as winter draws near, yet proper preparation makes this trek possible.
