Trek Itinerary of Mukta Top Trek
Day 1: Arrive in Kuflon (4600 ft) – 160 km drive
On your arrival to Dehradun, our transportation team will meet and escort you for the scenic 160 km journey that usually lasts 7-8 hours to Kuflon. Here you’ll spend a night under the stars at one of our comfortable campsite accommodations located there.
Day 2: Kuflon to Shiladuni – 4 km
After breakfast, our trek will depart Kuflon on a well-marked trek and make its way through a picturesque forest, passing rhododendrons and trees on its journey, before finally reaching Shiladuni campsite with breathtaking vistas of its surrounding landscape – just the place for restful relaxation in comfortable tent accommodations!
Day 3: Shiladuni to Chaithathar – 5 km
As soon as we finish breakfast, we depart Shiladuni for Chaithathar – our next overnight destination. Today’s trek will be moderately challenging as it winds its way through a lush forest filled with oak and maple trees before crossing over a stream on logs to arrive at a scenic viewpoint offering amazing vistas of the surrounding valley. From here, the path continues deep within the forest until finally reaching Chaithathar, where we set up camp for the night, enjoy dinner, and some much-deserved rest before sleeping peacefully under tents overnight!
Day 4: Chaithathar to Mukta Tal – 4 km
A gentle climb from Chaithathar to Mukta Tal is an unforgettable journey, offering stunning vistas of Bandarpunch, Kalanag, and Nag Tibba peaks. A 30-minute trek leads to a hill dotted with brown oak trees; from there, it’s only a short trek away until arriving at Mukta Tal – an idyllic lake. Day 5: Mukta Tal to Mukta Top to Kuari – 9 km
Starting at Mukta Tal, the path leading up to Mukta Top will take us through lush meadows with stunning vistas of Gangotri, Jaonli, Bandarpunch, and Kalanag peaks from its summit. After our ascend, we will retrace our steps back towards Kuari campsite where we will spend the night under tents.
Day 6: Kuari to Kuflon – 6 km – Drive to Dehradun – 160 km
Arrive at Kuflon where our vehicles will be waiting to transport you directly to Dehradun; arrive in Dehradun by evening.

Best Time to Visit Mukta Top Trek
Winter (Dec-Mar): Snow-laden forests and meadows create breathtaking winter scenes, while at their height, provide stunning mountain vistas. Daytime temperatures usually range between -5 and 6 degrees Celsius with night time lows as low as -12degC.
Post-Monsoon and Summer (April to June and September to November): Expect pleasant weather with sunny skies, flower-covered meadows, and ideal trekking conditions.
Avoid going on monsoon treks that are slippery or have insects such as roaches, as these make the experience far less desirable.
How To Reach Mukta Top Trek
By Road: Road Route To Kuflon The road route between Dehradun and Kuflon (155 kilometres via Uttarkashi) can take seven to eight hours and forms the basis of any trek that may begin there.
By Rail: Rail. Your nearest railheads could include Rishikesh (280 kilometres away) and Dehradun (200 kilometres away).
By Air: From Kuflon, take a flight to Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun (295 kilometres away). Many tour operators provide pickup from Dehradun’s ISBT or railway station and transport you to Kuflon.
