Chardham Yatra

Welcome to Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand with Trekup India; during your 10 Days Chardham Yatra trip, you come across thousands of temples that welcome devotees year-round. In this yatra, we cover four important holy shrines, i.e., Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, with Mana Village high up in the Himalayan Mountains.  These shrines in the high Himalayas remain closed for six months due to extreme weather conditions with heavy snowfall that covers the entire region with a white blanket and makes the living harsh; however, the Kapats of this Dham’s open during summer (April / May onwards and Closes with the beginning of Winters in October / November)

The belief is that one must complete Char Dham by travelling clockwise; therefore, you should always start your yatra by visiting Yumnotri-Gangotri-Kedarnath -Badrinath

Yumnotri: Located in a narrow gorge, close to the source of the River Yamuna (the second most sacred river after River Ganga), Yumnotri is located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand and dedicated to goddess Yamuna ji.

Gangotri: Located in Uttarkashi district, also home to Gangotri, which is dedicated to Goddess Ganga, and this is the most sacred river in India. The Hindu community has firm beliefs in worshipping Ma Ganga, and therefore one may see from its source until it is merged with the Bay of Bengal that there are thousands of Ghats where the mother river Ganga is worshipped.

Kedarnath:  is the most sought-after shrine of the Hindu God Lord Shiva. The current Kedarnath Mandir was constructed in the eighth century A.D. by Adi Shankaracharya and is situated on the site of a temple that was earlier constructed in the time of the Pandavas. Adi Shankaracharya restored and built the beauty of the Kedarnath Temple as one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. It is believed that the Kedarnath Temple is dated more than 1200 years ago.

Badrinath: It is located at an altitude of 3100 Mts from the sea level; the temple lies on the banks of the Alaknanda River, and Nar and Narayan Mountain ranges surround this beautiful town. Sage Adi Shankaracharya established the temple in the 8th century with lord Vishnu as its presiding deity.
